Eid ul-Adha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. Before the sacrifice could take place, Allah provided a ram to sacrifice instead. This act of devotion is honored by Muslims around the world through the practice of Qurbani (sacrifice of an animal like a goat, sheep, or cow).
